Lenten bread baking class

Lenten Bread Baking Class | March 29, 2025 | 3-5pm

NOTE: This class is now full. Email Lisa to be added to the wait-list.

From the manna on the ground to the loaves and the fishes, bread appears in the Bible multiple times as a symbol of God's provision and our faith. Join us March 29 as we explore how bread baking can be part of your own spiritual practice -- during Lent or throughout the year.

In this two-hour class for adults, we will mix and shape dough together, then share a Biblical reflection on bread and how the humble act of baking can be a way to be closer to God. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of how to bake bread, as well as a braided loaf that you can bake at home. No previous experience in baking is required!

Materials for this class will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own baking sheet from home to safely transport your bread at the end of class. You'll be required to mix a flour, yeast, and water starter about 4 to 6 hours prior to coming to class. You can pick up supplies for this on Sunday, March 23rd before or after our service. Or, instructions to mix your own will be provided.

Spots for this class are limited due to space in the church kitchen, so your advance registration is required.  If circumstances arise that prevent you from attending, please let us know as soon as possible so that people can be added from the waitlist.
